Blogs, Cornershops and fallen Madonna’s
Just heard the new Cornershop single. (‘Who fingered Rock n Roll?’). Sounds good. The title may be a bit crap, but it is quite blues rocky with their usual Asian influences. Seven years since their last album (but I personally still only hum ‘Brimful of Asha’ from time to time!)
Generally their sleeve art is pretty cool as well. Real 60’s conert images or 70’s carpets!
Can’t wait to hear their cover of the Mighty Quinn which is on this new album!
Followed on the radio by Madonna. Why is it - I know it was her birthday yesterday – she is never out of the media? I love those first three / four albums, no actually I love everything (excluding shitty remixes!) up until Erotica really and some great stuff after that – but I am talking about music – not the bloody publicity surrounding her private life. I, for one, don’t give a damn?! Am I alone in this?!
My own radio show went well today as well – and think I may have got away with swearing on the radio – not me personally – but the live version of Country Joe’s Fixing to Die Rag (great song – check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBdeCxJmcAo). Played some great Ben Harper, Luke Kelly and Joni Mitchell. But I was most pleased with working in a great piano based version of Four non blondes What’s Up?
