I dont really like posting other non music items on this site - but I feel compelled to mention and promote a film everyone should watch! The Reader http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0976051/ is an amazing film dealing with the concept of justice, complicity and the law. But it is so much more than that - a story where we (the viewer) have empathy for everyone, and all there disparate and separate lives - and how they intertwine! Anyway- don't listen to me - just WATCH IT!!

How is it possible. I have a new Mick Jagger spin off album here to listen to at the moment. Superheavy. But as if he is some kind of master marketing mogul there are at least two songs that reference him!
Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera and the truly terrible Cheryl Cole Clone Cher-eryl Lloyd - Swagger Jagger - i love this urban dictionary definition though! http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=swagger%20jagger Anyway - he now seems to be back in the press every bloody day - who is jaggers agent !! I never thought it would happen, With me and gigs ... so many gigs coming up and i am probably not going to get to them all. Decisions decisions. I am loathed to miss any gigs unless i have to - I have been blown away by so many bands who i nearly missed - both support acts and artists who i was ummm ing and errrr ing about going to see. If it hadn't been for a chance gig i would never have seen the AMAZING Michael Weston-King. The only pity in that case (and in the case of Loudon Wainwright) is that their albums just don't do the person justice. To see them perform in the flesh is so amazing, yet the majority of their LP's leave me cold! So if Michael Weston King is touring his 'I didnt raise my boy to be a soldier' album near you - any time soon, don't pause to listen to the album JUST GO!!!!!!
How did Huey Lewis - the US singer, come to play harmonica on Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous? (Bluesy Huey Lewis on the liner notes on Live and Dangerous is Mr Stuck on You and Power Of Love etc! Amazing.
Am I innocent, or just exceptionally naïve? Just saw a news (??) story on Msn as I logged out of my hotmail ‘Timberlake dating Wilde’. I immediately assumed that, like Wayne Shrek (aka Wayne ‘La Looney’ Rooney), Justin had a thing for the more mature lady, and was making advances to poor old Kim Wilde (who is 51). But I assume there is a younger – but definitely not better looking – model that he is trying it on with……… The trials and tribulations of the middle classes hey. Getting stressed and can't decide whether to go to the Meat Puppets in Dublin tonight. I know they inspired Nirvana - but then so did Daniel Johnston and he is pretty terrible! But knackered from a mad weekend and sandwiched between the great mr Loudon Wainwright III and the potentially great (and magnificent on Hadestown) Anais Mitchell.
Should i go, or get an early night?! (How rock n roll!) Though more likely i will roll one and listen to the Fug Squeeze have postponed their Dublin date - which was due to be this week. Due to 'studio commitments'. Is it me - or is that pretty lame?! Still they put in a cracking set at the end of last year - with support by those 90's stalwarts of pop tunes 'The Lightning Seeds'. So looking forward to the rearranged gig - even if we will have to wait 6 months!

Smiley culture died yesterday - seemingly stabbed himself during a police raid. I know he was a bit messed up - but seems a bit suspicious atthe least! He was a great song writer (or at least was for a brief period in the 80's!) Legend for his cockney translation! Give that a listen and Police Officer as wellhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_ZDPMwrPDM
